If you’ve spent some time at the beach and you’ve done a bit of shopping in Miami, you may be looking to do something different. While there is a lot going on at the various stretches of beaches and there are bargains to be had at the mall, there is also a lot going on downtown.
Downtown Miami is a historic place and its roots can be traced back to the 1800’s. This particular part of Miami happens to be one of the most populated downtown areas in the United States, which just goes to show you how vibrant it is.
In recent years, Downtown Miami has continued to develop and grow, proving to be a great financial and cultural part of this wonderful city.
The Central Business District
The Central business district, which is also known as ‘Downtown’ is home to many historic buildings as well as one of Miami’s main shopping streets, making this area well worth a visit. The population of the Downtown area reached 71,000 in 2009, and that’s just the number of people who live here all year ‘round.
Brickell
The Brickell area which can be found south of the river is a very upper-class neighborhood that has to be seen to be believed. Apartments and huge houses adorn the streets and they really are quite something to look at. You can find a good range of shops in the Mary Brickell Village and Simpson Park.
Miami Jewelry District
As you can imagine, this part of Downtown Miami is home to many different jewelry stores. You will also find quite a few gem dealers here too, which you may just find fascinating. There are many types of precious stones, designer necklaces, rings and so much more available right here. Even if you cannot afford to buy something from this part of Miami, it may just be worth a look as there is an abundance of jewelry stores all wishing to sell you something special.
Omni
Home to the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts as well as the Miami Herald, this part of Downtown Miami is a good place to visit. Filled with a wide variety of buildings and a general hustle and bustle, Omni is ideal for those who would love to get a taste of Miami life.
Park West
With a host of different nightclubs, this part of Downtown Miami is great for those who wish to have a good time. You will find a lot of different nightclubs in the area all with their own taste in music which means there’s something for everyone.
Restaurants
As well as there being a wide range of shops, you will also find a wide range of restaurants in the Downtown area. The quality of the food in this part of Miami is so good, you may just wonder why you have been eating elsewhere.
No matter how long you’re staying in Miami, you should think about visiting Downtown Miami as it’s a very exciting place to be.
