Iskcon Temple: Dedicated to Lord Krishna, the Iskcon Temple is located at Hare Krishna Hill, Sant Nagar Main Road, East of Kailash South Delhi. Built by the Hare-Rama-Hare-Krishna cult in 1998, this is actually a complex of temples – the largest of its kind in India. The followers of this cult follow the Gita and believe in singing the praise of Lord Krishna through songs and dances known as ‘Kirtana’ as prescribed by their guru Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. The temples have ‘shikaras’ at a height of 90-feet above the ground. The air-conditioned central hall can accommodate approximately 1,500 people. The visitors are greeted by two statues of the guards of Vaikuntha – the abode of Sri Krishna. There are beautiful paintings of Russian artists on the various times of Radha and Krishna known as ‘Krishna Leela’, Sita, Rama, Laxman, Hanuman and Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Special programmes like kirtana, aarati, pravachan and prasadam are organized between noon and 3:00 p.m. every Sunday.
