Golden Triangle of India

Golden Triangle of India: Well you must have heard about the Bermuda triangle in Pacific Ocean and yes its dangerous and nobody wants to visit that place. But in India we also have a triangle and its boasting the tourism & hospitality industry of India.

Hi, I am CB Singh and I operate a firm name Rajputana Cabs which offers taxi in Jaipur city and today I want to share a story on the Golden triangle {New Delhi, Jaipur, Agra and again New Delhi}. More than 10,000 travellers land on New Delhi International Airport with the aim of exploring real India. The majority of these travellers are interested to visit New Delhi, Jaipur and Agra. So the hospitality Industry started a tour package which somehow got an amazing name (Golden Triangle) and today every travel magazine in India and abroad knows this name.

So below I have mentioned some must see places, total time, accommodation and transportation options which one read to enjoy their holidays in India’s Golden triangle.

New Delhi 1st City of Golden Triangle of India

The India Gate war memorial New Delhi 1st Golden Triangle of India

The 1st city in the triangle is New Delhi. Most travellers spend like 2-3 days here and explore famous monuments like Red fort, Rajghat, India Gate, Humayun tomb and the rail museum of Delhi. Apart from these historical spots people tend to spend some shopping time in Connaught place and Khan Market which are two of the most awesome shopping destinations in Delhi.

Delhi is also a city of multiple religions. Delhi has many famous Hindu temples like Birla temple, Hanuman Mandir and Akshardham temple. Delhi also has 9 historical Sikh temples and a famous Muslimmosque (Jama Mazid).

As per my calculation all of the above attractions will take a minimum of 3 days and for accommodation Delhi’s Karol Bagh & Paharganj are full with cheap hotels.

Jaipur 2nd City of Golden Triangle of India

The Hawa Mahal palace in Jaipur

Next city in the Golden triangle is my favorite Jaipur. Jaipur is a 300 year old city and has so much to see, enjoy and remember. One can easily spend a week but as the Golden triangle package is usually for 9-12 days so I will suggest that 3-4 days are enough to explore Jaipur.

In Jaipur one must visit Amer fort, Jal Mahal, City Palace, Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, Pink City and Jaigarh fort. Famous shopping destination in Jaipur is the Pink City’s Jhori Bazar and the modern MI Road. Jaipur food is full of species. So if you are here than do have a lunch at LMB & MMB restaurants in Pink City.

Jaipur is full of Hotels which were previously royal residence of Rajasthan’s royalty. Some noticeable ones are Aram Bagh (now operated by Taj Group of hotels) and Raj Palace. Apart from these 2, Jaipur has many Havelies which are now popular hotels like Alsisar Haveli or Hotel Malak Mahal. So my suggestion is that stay in Jaipur is a royal palace or haveli.

Agra 3rd City of Golden Triangle of India

Agra is world famous for Taj Mahal. Any travellers or even diplomat visits Agra when they are in India. In the Golden triangle package Agra is at number 3 and 3 days are must for Agra and Fatehpur sikri (close to Agra)

Taj Mahal is one of the seven wonder of the world and a symbol of love. So any trip to India will always remain incomplete if one hasn’t visited Taj Mahal. Along with Taj Mahal one must visit the Agra Red fort and Fatehpur sikri which is not too far from Agra. For some Fatehpur sikri is even better than Taj Mahal and it includes me.

Another great thing about Agra is the “panchi ka petha“. It’s a sweet dish made up of Pumpkin and I won’t be wrong to say that more than 100 nations have eaten this sweet pumpkin desert of Agra. So if you are in Agra than do have a bite of it.

Back to Delhi

The journey of Golden triangle finishes after Agra as travellers return back to New Delhi and grab their flights back to their hotel. This 1000 Km+ journey is one of the few travel packages which have been sold million times and is boasting our Hospitality industry. Hotels, Taxi companies & local markets really benefit from this package and I wish it continues for ever.
