Chattarpur Temple: Located beyond the Qutub Minar in Mehrauli, Chattarpur Temple is a complex of temples. Built in the South Indian architectural style, it is dedicated to Goddess Durga. The complex of the temple with eye-catching lawns and gardens is spread over a large area. The Navraratri celebrations of 10 days are the special attraction when devotees and tourists converge at the temple premises. Navraratri starts from Mahalaya or the fifth day before Durga puja – in October – and continues for the entire period of the puja that goes on till another five days. It commences with the immersion of the idols of Goddess Durga and her consorts in a river when she returns to her husband’s house – Lord Shiva – after visiting her devotees on Earth who is her mother. Prasad and Bhog (community meal) are served on the occasion. Special bus services are arranged during these days. However, devotees and tourists visit the temple throughout the year.
