Marrying the man or woman of your dreams will be the most romantic day of your life, but your honeymoon will be the most romantic two weeks of your marriage. The perfect honeymoon should feature plenty of sunsets, long walks along deserted beaches holding hands, and of course, accommodation to die for. So where to go, and what to do? New Zealand
If you’re both outdoors types and lying on a beach for two weeks doesn’t float your boat, then New Zealand is a fantastic location for a more energetic honeymoon. With jaw dropping natural scenery, stunning national parks, lakes, mountains, fiords, simmering volcanoes, geysers and hundreds of adventure activities, adventurous honeymooners will be in seventh heaven. Go bungee jumping, cave rafting or paragliding in adventure capital Queensland. Camp in style next to one of the beautiful fiords at Milford Sound and watch the sun go down, or take a hot spring bath in any one of the islands thousands of natural geothermal pools. Tanzania
There could hardly be any more exotic or romantic destination than Tanzania for a honeymoon. Home to the Serengeti, the spice island of Zanzibar, and the snowy peaks of Kilimanjaro, Tanzania boasts wild adventure, stunning beaches, incredible wildlife, tranquil islands, traditional culture, and ancient ruins, most of which remains unspoiled by tourism. Get up close to the wildlife in a luxury safari lodge or tented camp on safari in the Serengeti, or stay in a luxury chalet surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean on the paradise island of Zanzibar. Head to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania’s Capital, for a vibrant and multicultural mix of peoples and foods, or Stone Town in Zanzibar for historic palaces, winding streets and snorkelling in the ocean. The people of Tanzania are warm and welcoming, and memories of Tanzania will stay with you for a lifetime.
Lake Como, Italy
Now the home of George Clooney, Madonna, and other Hollywood A Lister’s, the stunning beauty of Lake Como offers the ultimate in laid back glamour and la dolce vita. In the shadows of the Alps, and only an hour from Milan, the incredible scenery, spas and luxury boutique hotels of Lake Como, make this the perfect romantic hideaway for a honeymoon. Also a good base to explore the other delightful towns and villages surrounding the Italian Lake District, you can work off all that pasta by wandering around the historic towns of Bellagio Varese or Lake Orta, taking in the art and architecture, stopping for perfect cappuccinos along the way. Make sure too, to ferry out to the Borromean Islands and see the Baroque Palaces and Italian Gardens of the Italian Aristocracy The downside to a honeymoon in Lake Como?
