Champs-Elysées in Paris
The prestigious avenue of Paris, Champs-Elysées is one of the most expensive streets to live on in the entire world. There you can find numerous movie theaters, cafes, and luxury, really overpriced shops. In the buildings along this elegant avenue mostly business spaces have found their place.
The avenue stretches from the square Place de la Concorde to the Arc de Triomphe. Champs-Elysées has been, since 1975, the last stop of the popular Tour de France.
Wall Street in New York
Wall Street is a street in Manhattan, New York, famous because of the New York Stock Exchange located in it. It is in the middle of the Financial District. It received its name from the walls that were built here in the 17th century to protect the settlement.
Orchard Road in Singapore
The main tourist attraction of Singapore is the popular Orchard Road. This is the main shopping destination of Singapore. Numerous shopping malls, hotels, restaurants, cafes, and nightclubs have settled there. Get ready for a crowd because of the huge number of tourists and locals that visit Orchard Road every day. This street is really decorated during Christmas, you could say, from head to toe.
La Rambla in Barcelona
The heart of Barcelona is La Rambla, an always lively street that will surely show you the Catalan spirit. La Rambla leads to the Placa de Catalunya square and to the Mediterranean sea and the famous Christopher Columbus monument. Along the street that you will surely visit a few times when spending time in Barcelona, are numerous cafes, hotels, jewelry shops, restaurants, and fast-food chains. On the street, you will see a big number of street performers or buy flowers in one of the picturesque flower shops. Because of the large number of tourists, it is a pickpocket Mecca so be careful and look out for your wallets. Also, the smartest thing would be that you leave your car outside the hotel, and come with some local transportation.
The popular California street, Hollywood Boulevard, is located in Los Angeles. The street became famous in 1958 when a part of it became the so-called “Hollywood Walk of Fame”. The street stretches across 15 blocks of the famous boulevard. In it, you can find a row of stars placed on the pavement, that honor actor, directors, producers, musicians, and many other worldly recognized persons from the show business. Today on the “Walk of Fame” is more than 2400 stars and their number just keeps on growing.
Unter den Linden in Berlin
This beautiful boulevard in the capital of Germany, Berlin, has gotten its name from the lindens that grow along the whole of its length. The central part of the boulevard is the pedestrian zone with numerous parks, playgrounds, and green surfaces. The south part of the boulevard has many shops, souvenir stores, and cafes. Oh, the western part of the boulevard starts at the Brandenburg Gate and Tiergarten park and leads to the east to the Berlin Cathedral. Unter den Linden can offer you the most beautiful things if you go exploring on foot, where you can discover historic buildings located on the boulevard itself like the Museum of History, the Opera, and others. Marlene Dietrich sang about this beautiful street of lindens.
Lombard Street in San Francisco
Lombard Street has become famous as the street that has the most twists and turns in the smallest space. In its steepest part are as many as 8 sharp turns on a very small area. Lombard Street is between the streets of Hyde and Leavenworth. The speed limit on the steepest part is a speedy 8 km/h!
Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem
The street in Jerusalem that Jesus walked on carrying the cross is called Via Dolorosa. Today it is visited by a huge number of pilgrims although it has archeologically been discovered that Jesus walked on a bit different path and that the street has been changed through the centuries. Despite that, the pilgrims walk the path of Jesus and the cross on this street. Today, the Via Dolorosa has 9 stops on the way to the cross. Every Friday, a ceremonial procession organized by the Franciscans goes through the street.
