Traveling With Children? Three Items To Keep In The Car

If you have decided to finally take that much-needed family vacation this year and if you are going to travel by car, it is important to have three specific items loaded into the car at all times. The last thing you want is to have to deal with complaints of boredom resulting in tantrums, spontaneous illnesses, or discomfort when driving. Make sure you put each of these items in your car the next time you are bringing your children with you onto the open road.

Distraction is a Key Ingredient

Keep a bag in the car that is filled with distracting kid-friendly items such as toys, books containing bedtime stories, coloring books and crayons, travel board games, and anything else that may keep your kids from getting bored during the drive. This travel ‘fun’ bag and kit is perfect for those moments when batteries die in the MP3 or DVD player and when an unpredictable travel issue presents itself, such as a storm or flat tire.

A Cooler to Curb Every Taste Bud Craving

Make sure you have everything you need for a long road trip. Take healthy snacks along with you in a cooler such as dried fruit, fruit slices, whole fruit, nuts, trail food mixes and as much water as you can pack. Keep power bars and preserves in the trunk of your car – you’ll be glad you did so, should you encounter an emergency situation. It is always a smart idea to have some type of nutritious snacks in the car that will keep energy levels up and allow you to get through whatever travel scenario you encounter. Forget bringing junk food like chips and sodas, as it will not offer anyone in your family the nutrition they need during a long drive.

Emergency Supplies are Essential

When traveling by car and going on a long drive, it is a good idea to make sure you have blankets, a flash light, batteries, children’s Tylenol, Aspirin, extra water, a first aid kit, and anything else you can think of that may save you in the event of an emergency. It is a smart idea if you are traveling with kids (or even alone) to always have an emergency kit in the car full of everything you would need if disaster occurred. There are many more items that are important essentials for a long road trip and vacation. It is a good idea to get these items together and put them in your car immediately, so you and your loved ones will always be prepared and protected. Travel smart, travel safe.
