The Old Town: Located on the eastern base of the Gwalior Fort, the Old Town is a tourist destination spot for two prime reasons. One is the Mughal architecture reflected in the Mausoleum of Mohammed Gaus and also the Tomb of Tansen – one of the greatest musicians of all times. He was one of the Navratnas (‘Nine Jewels’) in the Court of Emperor Akbar. Muhammed Gaus was a Muslim saint who played a nodal role in Babur’s capture of the fort. Tansen’s mausoleum is an inalienable part of the glorious heritage of the Old Town.
